If you have a 9-5 job, back to back lectures or even both, you will acknowledge that there is nothing more relaxing than an amazing brunch on a chilled Saturday morning; no alarms, no traffic, no deadlines, just sweatpants, more sleep & a nice hot cup of coffee (or tea, but mostly coffee). On a regular day, I would probably have a doughut or muffin while trying not to spill coffee on myself, but not on Saturdays. This day was made for people with busy schedules to prepare a heavy meal to start off the weekend, one of my favorite being the English breakfast. In my opinion, a proper fry-up is rather personal, so feel free to swap up the ingredients to whichever suits your fancy.

Strands of Collar Bacon
4 Chicken/Beef Sausages
4 Slices of Brown/White Bread
250g Baked Beans
5 Large Potatoes (Optional)
2 Ripe Tomatoes (Optional)
Peel & wash your potatoes and cut them into wedges. You can slightly parboil them or put them in the microwave for about 10 minutes to soften them. Heat oil in a pan & deep fry. Set aside.
–Sausages & Bacon
Shallow fry your sausages & bacon on medium heat to avoid burning them or making the bacon overly crispy. Place on a serviette or kitchen towel to drain excess fat.
Fry your eggs as you prefer: scrambled, well done or running then set aside.
Am I the only person who enjoys toast that has been buttered & toasted instead of vice versa?
You can use a pop-up toaster but If you don’t have one, fret not. Simply butter your bread on both sides and place on a hot non-stick pan on medium heat until crisp to your heart’s content. Do so to each side of the slices and voilà!
Slice & salt your tomatoes. If you like cooked tomatoes, you could place them on a hot pan for about 15-30 seconds on each side and remove.
My go-to combo is normally eggs, bacon, sausage,baked beans, raw tomatoes & potato wedges/toast with a cup of coffee. Table your combo of choice and serve hot with your preferred beverage.
