Taking Stock Two

Happy New Week Loves! I hope you had a lovely and restful weekend. I was rather undecided as to what to share for this week’s post. And like I was telling one of my friends yesterday, one of the main challenges of being a content creator is choosing what to share because you cannot really force yourself to share something that you do not feel inspired by and if you do, it will certainly reflect in your work.

So, since I did not share a Taking Stock post at the end of the previous quarter, I figured why not catch up over one this fine Monday? Do grab a hot cup of coffee and enjoy! 🙂

Drinking: Water with a straw makes me drink more water. Although the Mr. makes fun of me all the time, it really does help! Because of it, I have been taking slightly more than 2L of lime or cucumber infused water 5 times a week. (Basically, when I’m at work. lol)

Reading: Much to my awe, I have been committed to my 2 books a month goal! I have already finished 2 of this month’s books and I’m currently on my 3rd one to make up for the month when I only read 1 book.

Behind the Laughter– An autobiography by one of Britain’s best-loved TV Stars, Sherrie Hewson. Her story is one that I can resonate with on so many levels and there is so much to learn from her journey!

Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: My name is Wambui Kogi and I am a huge fan of Nigerians and their culture. Now that that is out of the way, most of my favorite creatives are Nigerians from all over the world and my go-to music playlist mostly comprises of Nigerian music. When I watched Chimamanda’s Tedx Talk on Feminism, I purposed to try and read all her books this year, this being my first. Although I must confess, most of her books are quite large but they are well worth it, one of those that are really hard to put down.

At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks: About a newly wed couple, the tragedies that they face and the magic of everlasting love. If you have ever read any Nicholas Sparks book or watched one of his movies, you know that they often have a bitter-sweet ending that leaves you with what my mom calls a book hangover!

Making: Morning Devotions part of my Morning Routine. They really make all the difference and I would recommend it to anyone seeking inner peace.

Cooking: The last meal I made was granola and chapati wraps last week for the giveaway winner.

Wanting: A black Givenchy Antigona tote. Been having a not so slight obsession with bags lately.

Deciding: To work on getting better grades this semester than I did in the previous one. My exams are in a week’s time.

Wishing: I could get my hands on the book ‘What I Know for Sure’ by Oprah. I’ll check BookStop at Yaya Centre, they should have it. In case you come across it, feel free to let me know.

Enjoying: Last week’s episode of Power. Been at the edge of my seat the whole time!

Learning: And accepting that growth is a transitional phase where the things that once mattered to you may no longer have much importance to you anymore.

Loving: The joy that comes with giving! 🙂

Needing: A holiday so bad! Who knows? Maybe this quarter is the quarter!

Wearing: A nude top and a grey body-con skirt with my glasses on because no one wants to see the designer bags under my eyes.

Opening: Myself up to spending less time online and spending more time reading books and interacting with people.

Closing: The door for the spirit of procrastination this quarter.

Feeling: So grateful for the how the year has been thus far. It has had it’s challenges but God has been merciful through and through!

Playing: If Not for Your Grace by Israel Houghton. It’s so easy to take everything we have for granted, so I like to constantly remind myself that if it were not for His Grace, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Wondering: How regular vloggers do it. Sigh! After my attempt at vlogging and editing, I have so much respect for them.

Smelling: The Sir Avebury Oriflame perfume that I was given at their 50 Years’ cocktail last month. It is a show stopper!

Following: Lizzie Loves. She has literally inspired me so much. She got 100k subscribers only a year or so after starting her YouTube channel which she had dedicated her time and energy to. She is a constant reminder that if you love what you do and you give it your all, nothing can stop you from growing!

Laughing: Because life is too short not to! 😉

Thank you all so much for your constant support, our little family is surely growing and I do not take it for granted! Have a blessed week loves! 🙂
