Morning Feel Good Habits

Happy New Week Loves! I was initially meant to share a recipe post this week but my heart was not really in it. Work has been pretty busy, which I am grateful for, and everything has been going fine, save for my mood during the past week.

I imagine that many of you can relate with that period when your mood is just blah! There is nothing really wrong with your life but you feel stuck, unmotivated and in a bit of a funk. I personally do not like those phases at all but I understand that they are a part of life. Consequently, I decided to share some of the feel good habits that help me get out of that funk. I like to practice them in the morning before I start my day, just so it can set my mood for the rest of the day. What do you normally do to get yourself out of that mood?


Nourish your Spirit

Before I do anything else, I like to speak to God and just thank Him for His mercy and grace. It instantly helps me feel slightly better, like there are less things to worry about than there would be if I did not talk to Him. If prayer does not work for you, you can try meditation.

Work-Out

I like to do a brief morning work out at least 4 days a week. It not only helps me keep in shape but also wakes me up and gets me energized for the day.

Take Care of your Body

I normally take 1 or 2 glasses of water in the morning to just hydrate and freshen up my body, particularly after a work-out.

Very often we underestimate the power that our outfits have on our moods. I have come to learn that whenever I dress up and put on some make up, my mood instantly lifts and I feel ready to seize the day! So pick out an outfit that you feel sexy in, put on some lipstick & mascara, fill in your brows, spray some perfume and bam!

Practice Gratitude

This is one of my best spiritual practices and it has literally changed my outlook on life. Every morning, I write down 3 things that I am grateful for at that particular time and it has brought to light so many things that I would normally have taken for granted. Do you know that there are people who cannot breath without an oxygen pump? And there are others who have so much wealth but they are laying helpless in hospital, unable use their money in exchange for their health? There is literally so much to be grateful for, all you have to do is look.

Make Positive Affirmations

This is another important spiritual practice that works for me. Many are times when we subconsciously or unintentionally speak negativity into our lives; ‘I can’t afford that!’, ‘I won’t get the job!’, ‘This will be such a terrible day!’. And the only way to change that is to be intentional with your affirmations. The same way you would go on a food diet, avoiding any junk or carbs, is the same way you should go on a ‘negativity diet’. Whenever you catch yourself about to speak something negative into your life, turn it around; ‘I will be able to afford that!’, ‘I am grateful that the job is already mine because my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory’, ‘I may not have had a great start to my day but it will be an amazing day!’, ‘I am attracting abundance!’.

Life and death is in the power of the tongue, so speak life!

Seek Motivation

Growing up, we were always told that the Bible is God’s way of speaking to us. I am actually so encouraged by the fact that most ladies on my Instagram feed have the Bible app on their phones. I know ’cause we all have the same ‘verse of the day’. Even if it is reading a verse a day or a week, it makes all the difference and it also provides hope through His promises. If you are not a ‘religious person’, you can seek your motivation by reading a page a day of an inspirational book or listening to a motivational podcast. We live is an era where everything is just a click away, do not just let technology use you but also use it to grow.

Prepare a To-Do List

Every morning, write down at least 3 things that you would like to accomplish that day. It makes you live a more intentional and fulfilled life as opposed to when you just wake up and start your day with no clear plan.

Have Some Breaky

I happen to be those people who get grumpy if I have not had my morning fix. So I like to have a simple yet filling breakfast during the week or a slightly fancy one during the weekend when I have more time.


I hope that those few tips have been helpful. It is also my prayer that you can get out of that funk if you are in one, just like I have, and live a more intentional life. It is honestly never too late to change the course of your day, all you need to do is make the choice to make the change. I wish you all a fulfilling week loves! πŸ™‚
