A Taste of Spain in Nairobi

Happy Friday loves! I hope you had a lovely week and you will have an even better weekend. I have been so up and about over the past few weekends that I think I will stay in during this coming one. πŸ™‚

I like to think of myself as a citizen of the world because I enjoy the experience of different cultures through food, fashion, music and social practices. The 3 things that facilitate this are: travel, books and restaurants, depending on what I can afford at the time.

A couple of weeks ago, I experienced my first ever taste of Spain and it was so good, I went back for more after that! I went to Tapas Cheviche, a Spanish restaurant at Westgate Mall, on a Friday and to my surprised delight, they had a lunch offer that runs from 11:00am – 4:00pm every single day. You get to choose 3 tapas from their menu for a total cost of 1,350/- and honestly, that is an absolute steal. I had pork sausage cooked in red wine, burritos and salmon served with guacamole & baked beansβ€”Β in chronological order of my preferences. I particularly loved the experience because I got to try out three different items off their menu, granting me the chance to fully indulge my taste buds.

PS: A tapa is a snack or an appetizer, typically served with drinks. So if you are looking for filling portions, Tapas is not your place honey!

Since no Spanish experience could truly be complete without wine, I had 1/2L of their red sangria and guys, it deserves a standing ovation! It was genuinely the best sangria I have had at a restaurant and it totally lived up to the hype. 1/2L serves about 3 – 3 & 1/2 glasses of wine.

For dessert, I had churros with chocolate and caramel dips. The caramel dip was oh-so-heavely! πŸ˜›

I happen to be a sucker for great service and Tapas did not disappoint. A waiter was assigned to our table and he constantly checked up on us to ensure that we did not want for anything. πŸ™‚

Since everything was so exceptional, I went back a second time for happy hour and guys, their pineapple mojito is the actual truth! Sheesh! One mojito and you have to put your phone away, or else you’ll end up making irrational decisions like drunk dialing your ex!lol. I also tried their martini, although I’m not much of a martini person because I like cocktails that come in big glasses (hides face).Β The presentation was amazing and it tasted quite good. Although you must be careful not to spill the drink cause of how the glass is placed.

My overall verdict is:

Ambiance- 6/10

Service- 9/10

Food- 8/10

Sangria- 9/10

Cocktails- 12/10

Do have a lovely weekend loves! πŸ™‚
