4 Things You Need to Know About The Cliff, Nakuru

Happy Friday loves! How have you all been? I have busy working and living this month and I truly can’t complain. 🙂

I am part of the 25% percent of people who are hyped about birthdays because they symbolise 3 things for me: blessings, new beginnings and endless opportunities to get spoilt & spoil myself. Keeping all that in mind, I often celebrated my birthday for about 10-14 business days (hides face).

For this year, the Mr and I went for dinner at one of my favourite Italian restaurants, went to another favourite Italian the next day with my girl Maddie (hey love!), went for a weekend away with the Mr and finally, had the most amazing brunch party with my lovely friends. Copious amounts of wine were drunk, lots of amazing food was eaten, laughter was shared, thoughtful gifts and messages were received and I’d be lying if I said that my heart isn’t still beaming. 🙂

For our weekend away, we drove down to Lake Nakuru and stayed at one of the most gorgeous properties in the county: The Cliff. Here are 4 things you need to know about it and pointers on what to expect. Do enjoy! 😉

Location

The Cliff is perched on an actual cliff in the heart of Nakuru National Park overlooking the beautiful Lake Nakuru, hence the name. The surrounding makes the place very calm and serene; the only noises you can hear are crickets chirping and the rustle of buffaloes grazing. The property is surrounded by an electric fence and is made up of 12 self sufficient tented camps that accommodate 2 people each, making it highly suitable for couples. They also have a pool, spa and gym facility.

Service

Guys, I don’t believe that I have ever experienced the level of EXCELLENT service I received at The Cliff. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the GM and received a refreshing glass of juice and cool towels. These were much needed after the dusty drive and the scorching heat. We checked in and were showed to our rooms (ours had a little surprise thanks to the Mr, thank you baby!). We had 2 dedicated members of staff to attend to all our needs and show us around; from making sure we had enough towels to taking our orders in the restaurant. Much to our lovely surprise, we found hot water bottles in our beds and chocolates on our pillows when we came back from dinner.

Food & Ambiance

In my opinion, most hotels don’t necessarily serve the best food. However, we were quite impressed! They have set menus for all meals that are changed on a daily basis, which is honestly so much better than the monotony buffets offer. They also cater to vegans and vegetarians by providing meal options for them in all their menus. I particularly enjoyed their freshly baked pastries and the steak with cheese at dinner.

Prices

Their prices range from Kes.16,920 during low season to Kes.22,560 during high season on a per person sharing basis. Fortunately for us, we got a really good discount thanks to one of my lovely friends who also helped plan the entire trip (hey darling!). As mentioned in the Lantana post, do let me know when you have a solid plan for staying there and I will help you get a discount. 🙂

Highlights

Their fairly good wine selection 🙂

The cookies at high tea

The steak with cheese at dinner

The much needed soak in the tub using bath salts that they provided

The view overlooking the lake and seeing the sunrise at 6:30 am from the comfort of our bed

The freshly baked pastries

The fact that we could easily go for a game drive

The little travelling I have done this year has taught me that there are so many beautiful places in this country just waiting for you to experience them. The Cliff is a 10/10 for me and I totally look forward to going back there in the near future. 🙂
