Blank Canvas Season

Happy Hump Day loves! How’s your week coming along? I hope you have been keeping warm in the exceptionally cold Nairobi weather. I honestly miss warmer days but I have also been enjoying rocking my winter clothes and drinking hot chocolate. 🙂

A few weeks ago, I found myself in the space where I just was- “niko tu”. I’d wake up, go to work, catch up with friends and repeat 6 days a week. But it all felt so exhausting. I struggled to get up in the morning, struggled to stay motivated during the day, struggled to even read- which is something I thoroughly enjoy. I was in an in-between stage, a lot like when season’s change from the warmer April days to the chilly May nights. I was in what some refer to as blank canvas season.

So I decided to just take some time off and pause. Not travel, not meet people, not think about work. Just pause. And in so doing, the bigger picture became clearer. The reason I do what I do. The things that bring me peace and happiness. The things that truly matter. I found the energy within me to pack all the bags I had unpacked in that space and walk out of it. I made a conscious decision to stay positive, be more present and intentional.

The pain of growth can have you believing that you’re doing it all wrong. You’re breaking yet healing. You’re shaking yet unlearning. You’re feeling yet hurting. Do not fear. You aren’t collapsing, you’re rebuilding. -Twitter 🙂

I hope that you take time to yourself this week and just rest. And remember to give yourself grace as you grow. 🙂
