Taking Stock Six

Hey loves! How was your long weekend? I spent mine playing monopoly with my sisters and sipping on endless G&T cocktails. Gin and cucumbers bring the best out of each other, comprende? The lovely Olivia from William Grant & Sons taught me this, she’s also the reason why I’m a Hendrick’s girl. Thank you Liv! I appreciate you more than you know. 🙂

During my social media hiatus, I realised that I haven’t taken stock on here in ages. So grab a glass of something nice and let’s catch up darling! 🙂

Drinking: G&T, wine and water in almost equal proportions.

Reading: Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and loving it. I tried reading it last year but found that I couldn’t relate to the book at all, so I decided to shelve it for a time in the future when I’d need it. It just so happens that the time is now because I can see bits of myself in her journey of self love and discovery across Italy, India and Indonesia. If you’re not much of a reader, you can watch the movie on Netflix.

Eating: Lots and lots of potatoes. Fried, baked, mashed, you name it! And it’s starting to show because someone on the internet congratulated me for my potato baby. 😂

Making: It a habit to have daily check ins with myself about how I’m really feeling and allowing myself to feel whatever it is without any guilt and without beating myself up about it. Because you know what? It’s okay to feel angry, jealous or sad, just as it’s okay to feel calm, grateful or happy.

Wanting: Justice for all the people who have lost their lives for nothing. So many people have lost their lives to police brutality, not just in America but here in Kenya too and it’s so heartbreaking. Have our lives always meant..nothing?

Deciding: To make my space safe, beautiful and inspiring.

Wishing: And working towards financial freedom. Money doesn’t buy happiness but is sure does give you options honey.

Enjoying: Restorative yoga thanks to the Down Dog Yoga app. They currently have a discount on their monthly and yearly subscriptions.

Learning: To embrace this season. I’m making the most of my time indoors instead of focusing on what I’d be doing if outside was open.

Loving: The Journey’s End Shiraz thanks to Sheila who sent me a bottle last month.

Needing: A fresh manicure, my nails currently look like the ghetto.

Wearing: No make up and whole lot of lounge wear lately.

Listening: To Karun’s top songs list on Apple Music every morning as I start and set my intentions for the day.

Desiring: To learn how to apply falsies. I’ve been practicing a few times during this period and hopefully I’ll be a pro at the end of it.

Praying: In the words of Sarah Jakes Roberts, “Lord show me what you know about me that I don’t know about myself.”

Wondering: How all my girls over at Heygirl are doing, I miss y’all.

Thanking: God for my sisters- my tribe. They’ve been there through it all and I honestly don’t know what life would be without them.

Smelling: A mixture of fresh paint and burning incense.

Laughing: Because what is life without a little laughter, darling?

I’d almost forgotten how much fun it is to take stock. I hope you enjoyed this post and I wish you a lovely week ahead loves! Please remember to sanitise and wear a mask whenever you’re outside. 🙂
